I found out a little bit about the 2011 movie "Ripped". It's about the notorious Sun Gym Gang in Miami. Here's a web site that tells about this gang: http://www.miaminewtimes.com/1999-12...in-gain-part-2 . But it doesn't have anything to do with JtR, so will not be added to the list.

Does anyone know anything about a movie on IMDb entitled Ripped that is set for a 2011 release? I don't have IMDb Pro so I can't get any more information on the film. It's probably got nothing to do with JtR but, because of the title, I wanted to check if anybody would know for sure.

Only problem with a Tim Burton "Jack the Ripper" movie is Johnny Depp has already made a JtR movie. ;-)

Tim Burton would be great, score by Danny Elfman, but what kinda cast would we be looking at??
Derek Acorah has to be Robert Lee's, "Yes Sam, the killer lives at which house sam? What does that mean sam?"

Ripper 2 actually wasn't too horrible. Just not any Ripper stuff in it, per se. There has never been a really good Ripper film. Now, if Tim Burton were to direct one...

Tom Wescott

Both were worthy of awards....at the Golden Rasberries!!Originally posted by BillyE View PostIt seems the movie "Ripper: Letter from Hell" (2001) had a sequal. Hi Doctor X (the man with the cure)
Time After Time was on the list. Check the 1979 entry. I would have had to include it. It's one of my favorite Ripper movies. :-)
Please let me know if there are some more movies I missed. I'm sure there are plenty.

Did I miss it?
Time After Time
H.G. Wells--Malcolm "I'm SINGING in the Rain!" McDowell--actually builds a time machine with the hopes of visiting his utopia. His friend--David "I AM EVIL!" Warner--is actually Jack the Ripper. It opens with a stylized and incorrect killing of a prostitute. Jack steals the time machine . . . and the hilarity ensues!!!!
Actually, it is much better than that, but there you go.
And . . . darn! Yes, The Ruling Class! "Six little whores, glad to be alive!"
--J.D.
[Edited for though "David Wells" may be evil, he is too fat to play Jack the Ripper.--Ed.]Last edited by Doctor X; 03-21-2008, 01:34 PM.

Hi, all.........
I know I'm late to the party, as usual, but has anyone mentioned DEADLY ADVICE yet?? 1993 with Jane Horrocks, Imelda Staunton, Brenda Fricker, Jonathon Pryce, Edward Woodward as a rather far-too-robust Major Armstrong, Billie Whitelaw, Hywel Bennett as Dr Crippen, Jonathon Hyde, and Sir John Mills as the best Ripper I've seen in years. You GOTTA see this one! And has anyone mentioned THE RULING CLASS with Peter O'Toole? Sorry to repeat if these have been mentioned before, but both are truly Ripper classics.
Cheers and apologies for redundancy,
Judy

Hi Billy,
I thought of another reference film, but I don't know if it counts.
When Billy Wilder did his movie THE PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES, certain sequences were filmed that got cut (although they possibly still exist). In the movie Holmes is depressed on hearing of the fate of a person he was close to, and decides he needs to leave London for awhile. Lestrade shows up begging Holmes for assistance, as there has been another Ripper murder in the East End. Holmes begs off, saying that the Yard can probably handle it! Wilder, of course, was slyly suggesting that because Holmes would not take the case it was never solved!!
But the sequence was cut in the final film.
Jeff

Thanks. The movie in my first list noted just as "Ripper (2001)" was this movie you mentioned. I just omited the subtitle "Letters From Hell". Sorry about that.Originally posted by aspallek View PostRipper: Letter from Hell (2001)
Not strictly about JtR but lots of Ripper content and they get the facts pretty well straight. Unfortunately, it is pretty much a gratuitous slasher movie.
