An Inspector Kills
Here is my first draught of my JtR short AN INSPECTOR KILLS. Jack is in the cemetary,he is gloating beside the grave of Mary Kelly. But nearby, obscured by a big stone angel ( an avenging angel, you see?) and plenty of dry ice, stands Abberline!.
Abberline is puffing nonchalantly on his cheroot.
Abberline " I knew you would come ".
Jack turns around and smiles.
Jack " Abberline!, your to late Guv'nor, my job is done! ".
Abberline flicks away cheroot, and draws his service revolver .
Abberline " mine isnt ".
Jack shrieks with laughter, turns and runs deeper into the cemetery. Cut to darkness. A light appears from a burning match. Jack is hiding in a derelict mausoleum that a caretaker has carelessly left open.
Jack (whispering ),
" That soft tart Abberline will never find me "
A shadow appears at the mausoleum door.
Abberline " Thats right Jacky-boy, no one will ever find you "
The great stone doors of the mausoleum swing shut with a terrible groan, and an ominous click. The light from Jacks match splutters and dies as Jack screams. Cut to Mausoleum exterior. The deathly silence of the cemetery is suddenly broken by the hoarse calls of sergeant Godley lost in the fog.
Abberline turns and walks away.
Anyone think they can top this exquisite slice of psycho drama?, be my guest.

The In Search Of episode was about 20 minutes with the commercials edited out so I guess that could be pattern.

The nut never falls far from the tree as it where. Add in that the decendent doesnt just argue the points that would hang him but also comes up with great ideas for screenplays and you have my vote.Originally posted by Radical Joe View PostHows about this?
A modern day descendent of JTR (who knows his great grandfather was the killer) finds out, through this forum, that a prominent Ripperologist is close to uncovering incontrovertable evidence that will nail his great grandad. Keen to protect his great grandads reputation (the killer was a considered to be a respectable man in his time), the descendent sets about killing the Ripperologist in question, before the truth can be published.
However, he perceives that to kill only the relevant Ripperologist will lead to questions as to why he was killed (namely that he was close to publishing a book naming a killer). The police (and other Ripperologists) might probe into his work for answers and conclude that he had the killer rumbled. This won't do, for not only would they then publish his findings (with the added selling point that an author was killed for discovering the truth), all descendents would also come under intense scrutiny as potential suspects. Thus, the descendent decides to kill off the five most prominent Ripperologists (all with competing suspects and pet theories close to being published), partly in an attempt to throw the police off the scent as regards who he is really after, but also to stop the other Ripperologists meddling.
To cut a long story short, The descendent then arranges various meetings with the Ripperologists on the eve of the anniversaries of the crimes, at places close to the murder spots. He does this under the guise of being, firstly, a dedicated fan of the author, then, after the first murder (in Durward St - where else), a detective who tells the other authors that their insight is invaluable. Being the blinkered egotists they invariably are(!), and always up for a free pint and pork pie over a chat, the authors are only to happy to meet up to impart their knowledge.
One by one the Ripperologists are slain, at the original crime scenes, and in an identical manner to the victims in 1888.
Obviously, the killer (the descendent) isn't captured, and speculation is rife on the forums as to his identity. The killer himself posts on here to argue against any points that come close to the truth, and to have some fun into the bargain, just for jolly. A modern day equivelant of the letters to the press, if you like.
It's a bit like the Royal Conspiracy - but not as far fetched.

Reading this website is fine, and quite commendable. But, believe me, there is a heck of a lot more out there to master.

I've read a lot of what this site has to offer that's how. Victims, Suspects, Ripper Letters, so forth. I've also seen all the Ripper documentaries out there. Just cause this is my first thread doesn't mean I haven't been exploring the site for awhile.
And yeah, I hear what you're saying Normy, and I'll give it some real thought. Thank you.

I'd like to know how DTP thinks he/she is capable of writing a screenplay on JtR without, apparently, having read anything of significance about the subject. What is this, a script by wishful thinking?

Hi DarkTaleProductions
I agree with sdreid, don't disclose the killer.
Maybe like the video to 'smack my bitch up' by the Prodigy (except for the ending, where we see we've been following a woman). Have a camera's eye view of it all but end up with him meet MJK and coming back to murder her when he knows she's alone only to find, someone's already murdered her and far more brutally than he's ever done!
Cheers
Normy

Thank you everyone, and as to Mike Covell and Sam Flynn, don't worry I will NOT have any of the Royals or Freemasons. Abberline will also be absent in the screenplay.
As for the hookers I will only focus on Mary Kelly. And the movie will be more about Kosminski's stay in the madhouse and his schizophrenia.
Most of my screenplays are usually about the mind. So yeah.
And yeah I live in Miami, FL. and have tried Amazon, but every time I try to get the book, I get a refund a week later with an email saying that they're out of stock. Also in Miami we don't usually get the good things anyway haha.Last edited by DarkTaleProductions; 09-13-2009, 10:19 PM.

Ah Bob, you could be right : JTR stopped killing because he was feeling a bit run down.

Use Robert D'Onston Stephenson as your suspect, he was invisible during this period, so at least that will keep your costs down!

Hmmmmmm
If you're feeling in the short story mode (MAX 3,000 words) enter the WS1888 competition and maybe think about the screenplay later!....Just a thought!!!....
