    Hi Station Cat

There is a limit on the size of an attachment. A lower resolution version might fit.

Arbour Square and Shadwell were K div until the 1886 boundary changes made to create J div.

Then they were moved to H div.

In 1891 Thomas Costello was at 235 Brunswick Rd and he was a night watchman.

He must have been demoted at some point, for in 1881 he was living at Enfield and gives himself as an Inspector of Police.

    Hi Station Cat,

Are you certain that Robert Golding wasn't Eccles Golding?

    Simon many thanks for this!!!!

It would appear then, that perhaps the East India Dock Road station was in fact nearer to the crime scene, than the Limehouse one?

Can anyone confirm firm which station these two officers were stationed at?

I'm assuming that they either served at Limehouse or Poplar Stations. Although I leaning more towards Limehouse as that appears to be nearer to the crime scene?

With regards to Arbour Square and Shadwell, I think I'm right in saying that both of these stations were on H Division.

Could be Arbour Square (I went to school there) which is up Commercial Road past Berner Street to the east, about 1/2 mile on the left. Or Shadwell both were K division:Stepney.

Just found another earlier article mentioning Thomas Costello and his number is said to be 194 K.
