In which way(s) do you see it being illusory?

Simply in the sense that while something in there appears to be flat and brighter in parts there's no way of telling what it actually is and it might simply be shadows and reflections of light playing tricks with people's sight. It could also be slight defects from developing the photo.

Just to clarify. I think in recent times Mr Woods has backed away from the article he wrote 9-10 years ago. At least as of last year his posts on the subject were that this photo is a fake.

On one hand I do believe that they could have found a knife and then tried to keep the information private but on the other I cannot see how it wouldn't have been mentioned at all, somewhere, in one of the secret police files. I mean, multiple police were there, photographers, medicos, if all those people were around and saw it surely there would have been rumors or stories leaked of a knife found.

Because of this I simply have to believe this is an optical illusion.

I'm a little curious why they never took a photo of MJK from the end of the bed, rather than two side-shots. Was there no room?

We can reasonably assume that the police did not release all the data they had. Not having a real print of it in front of you is infuriating to no end.

Wasn't aware that anything was being kept from us except perhaps by some unknown collector. When the original files became available, many things went missing as there was no supervision of them. People could apparently wander in and freely help themselves. Much is still missing. Perhaps some things will resurface after collectors die. But, much as I enjoy a good conspiracy theory, I don't think crime scene photos are deliberately being kept from us.

It never ceases to amaze me that when someone says they can't see something,or ridicules it what they really mean is 'i dont want to believe it's there,it doesn't fit my theory so I'll make a joke out if it '
Remembering this isn't my thread and not my spot but for me the poster should be commended for spotting something that could be extremely important that others have failed to spot.

Nick Warren once argued that it would make sense for the killer to leave his tools at Millers court, why risk carrying them with you when there is no need to.
It's quite plausible that the police would hold back certain info about the crime scene, and the police photos weren't for general viewing.
The more you look at the pic, I can see a knife, however not any type of surgical knife that one might expect to see.

Quite honestly Packers, I could probably trace the outlines of Snow White and the seven dwarfs somewhere in that horrible photo, but it still wouldn't mean they were there.
