Not sure if I'm making this up but was MK1 and MK2 pretty much the same and one of them was destroyed/lost?

Interesting!! Is there a source for the possibility of 6 photos?? Cheers CwOriginally posted by The Rookie Detective View PostThere were said to have been several photos taken; up to 6 different shots.
It is therefore logical to assume that there are potentially anywhere up to 4 additional images lost in the ether somewhere, that have never seen the light of day.
I would envisage there having been a shot taken directly from the end of the bed looking towards her, one from the door looking towards her feet and over to the far corner, a close up of her face, and a close up of her eyes (to try and capture a reflective image of her killer)
That would make 6 in total.
In other words; the best argument to support MJK3 having been authentic; is that it was stated that multiple photographs were taken at the time.
On that basis, it may be the case that we have only 2 photos from a collection of up to 6 photographs.

Given that old cameras needed very specific lighting conditions this may have been the deciding factor, not symmetry, as you say.Originally posted by Indian Harry View Post
Regarding MK3, they must have decided it would be important to capture the body from the other side of the bed as well... so I believe they pulled the bed away from the wall. However since the photo is more of a close up compared to MK1 they probably didn't push the bed out very far... just enough to make room for the camera and photographer.
I can envision someone going to the foot of the bed and pulling it away from the wall... however, I don't think they were concerned about maintaining a parallel position with the wall. I think they made more space at the foot of the bed and took a picture at an angle which is why you see more of the end table in MK3.

I don't recall any metion of it, but could it be possible for the wall partition to have been moved in order to take the photo for MJK3?

I always wonder where the camera for MK3 would have been placed? It always looks like the bed was pushed up against the wall, so where/how was it positioned? I don't believe the picture is a fake but this has always perplexed me?

You must have meant to say 1988 here, right... it was 100 years later on the centennial.Originally posted by SchirrGenius View PostAs you know, MJK3, the second existent image of Mary Jane Kelly’s murder scene, lacks any provenance. It was anonymously mailed to Scotland Yard in 1888.

There's these links to various things I've created to try to bring the room and its content to (virtual) reality.Originally posted by Losmandris View Post

Not sure if any of those will help.

The sketch is a less detailed copy of another sketch, and somewhere along the process, this version got mirror-imaged, before the lettering was added.Originally posted by Geddy2112 View PostI know it's just a sketch but which picture does this attempt to depict?
So the answer is: the sketch depicts taking the photo MJK1. The drawing has just been reversed.

Hi Kattrup,Originally posted by Kattrup View Post
I’m not sure what you mean by ‘high point’
In MJK1 the right knee is higher than the left, but if it is the right knee that is shown in MJK3, as you suggest, why is the left knee higher?
Having now read the linked threads I find that all my questions have been addressed before in those threads:
What I thought looked like checked fabric is a bolster. Richardh has an excellent animation showing how a left hand can look like a right hand, although I'm not entirely convinced. The arrowed high point in the photo above is nominated a her inner thigh - I'm not yet convinced about that.
At this stage I'm still inclined to think that MJK3 is a forgery.

If the high point in MJK3 is the right knee, what are we looking at here?
but what you’re looking at in the closeup is her right shin. Notice the straight dark line across the top of her shin/calf:

Hi SchirrGenius,
I used Photoshop to apply a little sharpening and some level adjustments for the lighting and came up with this:
I then zoomed in to obtain this close-up:
If the high point in MJK3 is the right knee, what are we looking at here? Is it just me, or is there some script at the bottom centre of the photo?
Another zoom-in:
The image on the left looks to me to be checked fabric and perhaps a feather. On the right there appears to be some script.
I'll be interested to see what others think of these photos, but at this stage I incline to the view that MJK3 is a fake.
Cheers, George
