Hi Everyone,
I am somewhat surprised that more discussion has not followed over the past few years concerning the string apparently left on Mary Kelly's door, so that residents/friends could enter the room without knocking.
I appreciate that this derived from Dan Farson's interview with Mrs Cox's niece, however it is a fascinating piece.
Would I be technically correct in assuming, that a piece of string was attached to a latch internally, and by pulling the string via the keyhole that procedure would allow entry.
Sounds right but is it feasible?
Kelly was said to leave the door on the ''latch''
Was this oral a new version of the ''window trick''?
Was the key lost before the window was broken?
Was the string trick still used on the 8th, when she returned home , even though the bolt could now be accessed via the broken pane?
Regards Richard.
