This is one for the female ripperologists - ripperologistas?
Perhaps this one has been done to death, but does anyone think that what can be seen on Mary Kelly`s left arm is a sleeve? A chemise was an undergarment which was either sleeveless or with a cap sleeve. No way is that a cap sleeve! I have seen a suggestion that it could be part of the sheet but if that was the case surely it would be bloodstained?
In the doctor´s report he refers to the spleen being placed on the left side. As far as I can judge from the photograph there is no room on the left side of the bed for anything, so could he have meant that what is on the left arm is the spleen?
Not being medically trained I can only go by pictures on Google, and this doesn´t look like them. Also the spleen is described as purple in colour and this looks white. However, I remember hearing that in the early films actors had to wear blue shirts if they wanted to be shown wearing white ones, so could this in fact be blue/purple in colour?
Any suggestions welcome.
By the way, for a peek at Queen Victoria´s frillies, go to http://i.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/m...s_1477141c.jpg one of the garments is in fact a chemise, but not the right size for Mary Kelly I would think.
