Hello FM!

Well, I haven't visited the US, but some people have told me, that they have faced that kind of ignorance there, that one doesn't face even in Outer Mongolia!

At least that thing is pretty obvious, that there are loads of fundamentalist-christians there! A lot more than in Europe, despite I've faced some in Finland too!

This is going to go completely off topic but perhaps indirectly related.

Protestants believe 'everything is in their holy book'. That is the whole point of Protestantism - a rebuke of Catholicism/idoltry/non scripture based religious activity. I know I know.....their book advocates violence and the christian book doesn't....which of course is a load of rubbish....and it really depends on how you want to interpret the different religions and books.

I'm a simple guy, you know...
Knowledge is to be found everywhere, especially in books, art, movies, open conversation.

Have you ever tried to talk about Henry Miller or Anais Nin with a fundamentalist muslim, or a narrow-minded evangelist unable to accept anything from Darwin ?

I've lived with fundamentalist muslims for years on the Somali border, and people who refuse to read novels, watch movies, etc, are indeed ignorant, unless you consider, like they do, that everything is in their holy book.

No doubt about it, that your point about the fundamentalist people not wanting to read anything but religious stuff is correct!

But at the other end; imagine a little kid somewhere in Afghanistan, Lebanon, etc. sitting on a pile of rubble once being his home watching from the tv-news, how a guy without work is doing better in Europe than his parents at work in his home country. A thing like that can also cause some bitterness.

Anarchists at that time were like muslims today....in fact not like muslims today at all but more like fundamentist muslims in the sense that views on these people are coloured by ignorance and stereotype. I'd suggest that anarchists and socialists in the East End were viewed in an extremely negative light according to social norms and any reporting should be taken with a pinch of salt.

This International Club is made up of a gang of criminals who are closely watched by the police.
