I've only just found this thread, and the photos posted are fascinating. I did the 'JtR Walk' several times, the last time being about 25 years ago, and I thought things had changed a lot then! However, the changes I see today, especially around Mitre Square (a quiet little backwater when I was last there) are incredible - and I have to say, not all bad.

This building still stands at the corner of Mitre Street and Creechurch Lane. I don't know the date of it, and its not a Listed one.
Today's its a wine bar with apartments above. The arches echo the main gate of Holy Trinity Priory which stood at almost this exact spot. Coincidence, or a nod to history by the architect ...
