I think, most of us agree, that CE was pretty well educated, first in St. John's Charity School, later in Dowgate Charity School. Being described a witty student with a fierce temper.
This is, on print. But how good these schools were on the standards of the day?!
At least to my knowledge some schools were not that good. According to some people, there really were schools like the one in Charlotte Brontė's "Jane Eyre". In which she used her real-life experiences.
