I've suggested that unwittingly Paul got started earlier than usual that morning: him subsequently describing the time meeting up with Lech as 3:45 am.,
a time that corresponds to that of no other witness or PC. Getting started at around 3:45 am would have been the perfect time for Paul to just make work on time.
If Paul actually left at this time, he wouldn't have run into Lech.
Agree! You would think that your typical early morning commuter would be aware of where the PCs were in those tough neighborhoods.
