Who is Everyone's go to suspect and why?

Kosminski, because he was identified by a witness, in appearance he also resembled the man seen by the city PC, in addition to the facts that he was local and mentaly sick person.

Kosminski and Druitt will probably never be out of the frame, but for me the strongest suspect by a country mile is Blotchy.

He was seen by Mrs Cox in the company of Mary Jane Kelly a matter of hours before her body was discovered.

If unnamed suspects are allowed, my top suspect is the man Lawende saw with a women that he thought was Eddowes shortly before her murder. My #2 suspect is the man Elizabeth Long saw with a woman that she thought was Annie Chapman around the time of her murder.

Of the named suspects, I think that the 9 best are William Bury, George Chapman, Jacob Levy, Charles Le Grand, David Cohen, George Hutchinson, James Kelly, Aaron Kosminski, and Frederick Deeming. I'd say that Bury is slightly stronger than the other 8 because he's a known murderer, he killed his wife in a manner that has some similarities to the Ripper murders, and he lived fairly close to where the murders occurred, moving away shortly after the last C5 murder.

I personally do not believe we have named Jack, the man seen attacking Stride has to be Number one , as he was the only person actually seen manhandling a victim , who was he though?

Someone local who was interviewed by the police as part of their enquires, perhaps more than once and who may have been suspected by someone close to them. As a lesser guess , physically strong , perhaps in a job like a butcher, perhaps had a bolt hole near Mitre Square , perhaps been a client of Mary's at some point , perhaps lived on one of the streets just off Commercial St IE near Flower and dean, perhaps let out of prison/asylum early 1888, or hospital suffering syphilis.

As for go to, I would say Blotchy or to a lesser extent Wide awake man

                    Regards Darryl

I'd say someone like Marks Silverman who run a Chandler's shop out of 6 Fashion Street; the address given by Eddowes shortly before she was murdered. He ended up going insane and was committed to the Jewish Asylum being deemed as "incurable"
He was a skilled craftsman and made personalized walking sticks similar to the ones given to Abberline and Co...

Or perhaps John Donnelly, the stonemason who ran a small furnace in the cellar of 38 Dorset Street, the same residence that Stride and Kidney lived. Donnelley kept his wife in the cellar for 3 days before she was taken to hospital where she died of extreme burns; her face being almost burnt off after he said she had fallen into the fire after having a fit. He was also named as the man who killed Stride by a woman who walked into a police station in Cardiff.

Or perhaps Frederick Gehringer, who was based in Wentworth Street at the City of Norwich pub and was known locally as a man who controlled the area. His brother also ran a dodgy butchers out of an address just south of Cable Street. He also used to live in Mitre Street.

Or maybe Isaac Van Gelder, a member of the WVC who married Rachel Shine, a Cat's meats dealer. Issac's step son Nathan alleged to have seen the face of the man who murdered Stride, and yet he kept it a secret. Isaac never went by the name of Isaac; he was known by the name "Jacques" or Jack.

Or maybe Albert Bachert, the man who fantasized about the Ripper case; sending letters to the press and himself claiming the Ripper had contacted him. He went by the name of Alfred Charrington and under that guise he led the notorious Skeleton Army in Whitechapel; the militant antisocialist group who opposed the work of the Salvationists. Bachert changed his name multiple times and was a proven compulsive liar. He was anti-socialist and once wrote to the press to complain of thier reference to his father being Jewish... Despite his father's real name suggesting he was of German Jewish heritage.

Or perhaps the elusive John Cleary/Arnold who walked with a distinctive shuffle and somehow managed to predict a torso would be found in a location BEFORE it was actually dumped in the same location.

So...there's at least 6 right there

Always nice to open up the Canonical 5 horizons and look beyond populist mainstream individuals who had no link to any of the murders.
