I have run across the name of Claude Francis Druitt, a surgeon apparently in Bristol in 1897. I can't place him in Montague's family. Does anyone have further information?

He may also have had an interest in ornithology. In 1891 C Druitt is listed living in Clifton, a suburb of Bristol. In the 1892 issue of the "Proceedings of the Bristol Naturalists Society" there was published a paper:
"The Green Woodpecker, by Claud Druitt"

In 1894 Agnes Louise Mayo married a doctor named David Owen. The marriage took place in Barton Regis, Gloucs. By 1901 the couple had moved to Pendlebury, Lancashire and were living at 7 Manchester Road. Owen is listed as a physician and surgeon and they had three children, Agnes M aged 4, Ina K aged 2 and Henry M C aged 1 month.
Agnes was the daughter of James R and Catherine H Mayo, the family being listed in 1881 living at 1 Paragon Villas, Weston Super Mare. Her father, James, was a banker.

Hi Robert
Many thanks for that
What a family tree!
In one line Claude can go back to the 12th century to an ancestor with the superb name of Johannes Monoculus - One Eyed John!
Thanks gor that

There is an Agnes Mayo listed as a member of the Hampstead Committee of the Society for Organizing Charitible Relief and Repressing Mendicity in 1881. Chairman of the Committee was Rev. S.B. Burnaby. Rev. S. A. Barnett was a member of the Society as was Octavia Hill. The Society had a Whitechapel Committee at 194 Commercial Road.Last edited by aspallek; 10-28-2008, 09:48 PM.
