I didn't say that quite right. This was a Baptist Union church, although a split occured in 1887 and it became independent. The Temple in London was a nonconformist church. In any case, the close proximity of the Tabernacle to Cutbush's neighborhood growing up, and his later attendance at Temple, made me wonder if he attended service there. Both were very large churches, the Tabernacle seating 5,000 with extensive Sunday School programs.

    Metropolitan Tabernacle

Metropolitan Tabernacle, in Newington. Tom Cutbush was born and raised nearby. Since he later attended the Temple in London, I wonder if Tom attended services, and/or went to Sunday School at the Tabernacle when growing up. I have no knowledge of it, just putting an idea out there. Perhaps Kate, raising her son as a single mom, introduced him to a different type of religious experience, the large nondenominational church.
