Let's get going properly with the Nichols murder.

So we have the Goad map for 1899, what about any maps/pictures from Buck's Row and the environs from between 1880-1900?

What are the blue circles on the Mitre Square map? I'd have thought street lights, but they look too large - unless they're not to scale.

Thanks for these, DGB - a very useful addition. Welcome to the boards as well.

Does anyone know anything about the flight of stairs which seem to be shown at the closed end of Dutfields Yard? Probably not significant, but I don't recall hearing of them before.

    Regards, Bridewell

Hello DGB. Thanks for posting this. Welcome to the boards.

This is very helpful. Formerly, I'd have to reread Sugden if I needed a map.

    Cheers.

    Hello DGB,
Great idea! At the moment I'm ploughing through East End Photographs and Drawings and really enjoying myself in the process, but I have wished that we could also have the 'old stuff' together on a special thread.

Excellent idea for a thread, DGB.
I'm longing (for years) for a contemporary map that would take all ripper sites into account, including the non-canonical cases (Mile End and the South Grove Workhouse, Maidman Street, Burdett Road where Smith has been seen at around midnight, etc etc).
