      John,

Do you remember the name of the character from Miller's CT who lived there (possibly) at the time of Kelly's murder, and who had a criminal history? I just vaguely remember a guy like this, but I can't for the life of me remember any details. I think it came from something Chris posyed, maybe from the Old Bailey records.

      Cheers,

        Cheers, Mike!!!

The list is from my ongoing Ripper project, "The Whitechapel Murders Who`s Who".

I don`t know the crim` from Millers Ct you mention, I`ll have to have a look back at Chris`s Old Bailey lists.

          Probably been answered before,but...

Timothy Donovan...I think I remember his name being connected to two lodging houses as deputy?....anybody throw some light onto this for me,please.

What a list!..thanks for posting it.....really enjoyable bit of reading on a soggy Tuesday afternoon.

Donovan was deputy at Crossingham's when Chapman was murdered and viewed her body. I think there isn't a connection with Kelly that I know of. There was also a Timothy Donovan who murdered his wife in about 1905 of Stepney.

              Hi Anna

Timothy Donovan was the Deputy keeper at Crossingham`s, 35 Dorset St.

There were two "Crossingham" Lodging Houses in Dorset St. One was opposite Millers Court entrance,No. 17, and the other, 35 Dorset St, was on the same side as Millers Court but at the other end of the street.

edit. Mike, sorry for the echo, we crossed posts!!

                Thanks guys...

I've got him as being deputy at 18 Thrawl Street in my notes, then he appears again as deputy at Crossinghams..how strange...maybe it's been copied wrong from books or something...

Having just located my book of notes,he's in with Nicholls as deputy at 18 Thrawl Street.Unfortunately I haven't written what book I'd found that in.

This Timothy Donovan died of consumption,if I remember correctly.

I personally have never found a reference to Timothy Donovan having anything to do with 18 Thrawl Street (Wilmott's Lodging House). I could be wrong of course!

Although it was not unusual for people to own several lodging houses, being the day-to-day manager of one would probably have been enough.
