    • Rob, the combination of glass tiles and "scream" made you think of "Carry On Screaming" - the film where Charles Hawtrey (Mr Dan) gets drowned.

... how appropriate, Rob. Doubtless they were "frying tonight" at the Happy Days fishbar on Goulston Street

                  • Love the photo's, especially the derelict Poplar Station one. According to "the internet" the station was only open for five years between 1840- 1845. It goes on to say:

Despite this very early closure the platforms remained intact until the late 1960's when the cutting was filled in. A brick building on the up platform had no connection with the station and was part of the hydraulic pumping system for the Midland Railway Dock branch.

Presumably that brick building is the hydraulics thingy.

Anyway, great stuff. Wonder why it was only open for five years?

                    • Don't know why, Cubes. Glad you liked the shots.

Oops, Blackwall Station was the end of the line.

                      • These two shots were taken in 1975 by Paul Trevor.

I'd seen them before, but only just realised the significance.

More importantly, this view through the skeleton of the Brick Lane shop shows what was the White House (56 Flower and Dean Street) in the process of being demolished.

                            • The sign reads : Emergency. If you can read this, you are in danger of falling masonry.
