For the information of anyone who may be contemplating coming to RipperCon 2018 in Baltimore this coming April, I will again give the acclaimed talk that I gave last Sunday in Liverpool on Deeming, the "Australian Jack the Ripper" -- as the newspapers of the day trumpeted. In addition, just to sweeten the deal, prizes will be given out at RipperCon 2018. Some lucky attendees will walk away with some actual loot. Don't miss attending the only North American Jack the Ripper conference in the 130th anniversary of the Whitechapel murders. Only 50 places available! Get your deposit in now. Complete details at http://www.RipperCon.com.

Pinioned, hooded, a noose around his neck, hangman William Walker sent Deeming to his final judgement.

If you are the first to answer correctly, you win the ad picturing Sir Augustus Harris, which incidentally features on the other side of the page a very nice frameable Art Nouveau-style ad for perfume. Good luck! (Gray shading on the left side of the perfume ad is an artifact because the page is in plastic.)

Jan Bondeson gave a correct answer with the pantomime "Babes in the Woods" starring Dan Leno at the Drury Lane Theatre. Impresario Sir Augustus Harris was manager of the theatre in 1888.

Next trivia question: There were some murders in a park some years before the Ripper murders that some have thought may have had a link to the Ripper crimes. Name the park and city.

Be the first to answer the question correctly and you can win a period postcard showing the park and another card of similar vintage. Good luck. To be fair to others, those who have won swag from RipperCon before can't answer.

Thanks, GUT. Yes I have grown quite fond of the fellow but agree that he was a horrible human being. Tell you what.... send me a private message with your email address and I will send you a copy of my notes for the talk.

              Hello Chris,

By any chance do you have any of the old porn that Tumblety allegedly offered for sale? The incentive of that as a prize should spark interest.

I'm working with Mike Hawley to get some. Hoping to have a "nise" and juicy selection at the Baltimore conference.

Correct, Harry. But someone elsewhere answered before you.

GUT, I don't recall sending you any goodies... could you clarify the situation, much happening here.

Hi Chris I said as postage would cost you a crazy amount feel tree to use it (tintype I think) for something else.

And talking of Christmas (the loot you could win, not the trivia question) --

Name the Beatles song that concerns murder and you could win a period Liverpool postcard mailed on Christmas Eve during Edward VII's reign to an address in Dingle, i.e., Ringo's neighborhood (postmark says "190..." with the end of the year incomplete -- c'est la guerre). Good luck. To be fair to others, those who have won swag from RipperCon before can't answer.

                                Cheers

                                Chris
