As an American I've been privileged enough to visit the Ten Bells numerous times (it is prioritized on trips). I have a lingering question: Is the interior layout similar to the layout in 1888? I think that the tiles on the walls are Victorian, as is some of the artwork, like the Spitalfields in the Olden Time. What about the layout? In 1888, was there a bar in the middle of it with tables around the interior walls, or was a public house a very different place in 1888? Was there a basement (and those creepy steps to the bathroom)?
