Might jack have had a personality disorder ? Later we read that Jtr had a job which provided little if any contact with the public. This would have helped him cope with his problem, while allowing him to work.
These people often have conflict and end up before magistrates. So he may well be found in court records should they exist. But of course, such a history would be commonplace in the Whitechapel of the day.
