well it depends on which way you look at it
ok heres the jack the ripper spelled out to you.hes a cycopathic killer who preys on the unsuspecting with a 'blitz' style attack.cutting the throat and severing the caraded artery killing the victem.he then lays them open and takes a organ or a 'trophie' as some call it to relive his past murders.he probally visits the graves and murder sights of these victems after the killings.depending on which suspect you choose(which i find none of them very convincing, less you count barnett or druitt)he may have commited suicide, fled the area,or just got scared out of killing.now most serial killers do have some type of cycological disorder which impears them.if you belive the lusk letter to be genuin then you can state these facts.first of all the letter being addressed as 'from hell' shows that the ripper has a demented sick fantisy and has a abnormal state of being when alone.he ends the letter saying 'catch me WHEN you can' not IF you can so he didnt neciserily set a challenge for the met police as many of the ripper letters point to.second if someone was to send lusk a kidney as a joke i dont think anyone woud take the time to write a post card along with it because in my eyes thats a little more than the usual prankster to get at and another point kidneys arent availiable to everyone which narrows the list of could be authors.i personally dont belive the ripper moved away.i belive the ripper murders may have been connected with another murder there afterword committed on september 8th 1889 the one year anniversary of annies death...

I don't believe Jack killed himself either. I believe he moved somewhere else. Some say he might have gone into an insane asylum, but I don't agree with that. Jack appeared as a normal person to me who revealed his true self at the last moment. He butchered Mary Kelly in the worst way possible. You really can't butcher a human body any worse than Jack did with Mary Kelly. I also don't believe Jack wanted to be caught. If he wanted to be caught, he would habe turned himself in. I also believe he loved the attention he was getting, but didn't wanna turn himself in because that would mean he wouldn't be able to kill anymore. I think one of the questions people wanna do is why did Jack stop killing. Each murder to me seemed worst than the last. I don't believe Jack was ever close to being caught. The police back then didn't know anything about serial killers. They were looking for the wrong kind of man. I believe that Jack did what he wanted to do in white chapel and moved somewhere else. Maybe he did move somewhere else because he felt he was close to getting caught. No one can say for sure.

on that topic.lets say joseph barnett is the ripper,he was questioned for four hours by the police after the murder whilst he was checked for blood staines and after those hours he was relased, the police satisfied with his aliby.jack the ripper wouldnt just quit killing.i dont know if you have read the FBI investigative analysis on the ripper but it states that the only reasons he would quit killing is if he was close to being caught, maybe questioned, arrested on other charges,or commited suicide.i personaly dont belive the ripper commited suicide.

He may have changed his mo to throw police off. Who really knows. I'm just saying I believe serial killers are able to change their mo's. If serial killers are able to act like normal people, surely changing their po's wouldn't be a difficult task for them. Something obviously happened to Jack after the murder of Mary Kelly.

Well
Most likely the ripper wouldn't chang his M.O just for the hell of it. The ripper kills so he can mutilate these women. That is his aspect of the crime called the ritual. He wouldn't change that unless to weaken or streanghten the mutilations or if someone suspected him he may have killed using another technice to throw off the police. But I find that not very likely. Here if u want to see a post relating to change of the mo look up this post connection of the torso.

I also wanna point out that just because a serial killer has a specific mo, doesn't mean he isn't capable of changing his mo to throw police off. Who is to say that Jack only mutilated women? He could have poisoned women or killed them in other ways. Just saying that one shouldn't think that serial killers can't change their mos. If serial killers are able to blend in with society and act perfectly normal and escape suspicion, they are willing and capable of changing their mo for what ever the reasons may be.

good ideas
i do believe the 'jack the ripper' murder spree to be that of serial killings.done by one person with a very good mind.even in that day and age having the ripper to lure his victems, make them comfortable around him, then slay them without a struggle takes a very skilled linguistic and thinker.i belive as in the murders of polly through kelly the degree of the mutilations increased with is dissire to mutilate to feel the dominance over women to do the ritual aspect of his crime increased in vigur.as in the case with polly she had only slight mutilations.in the case of kelly it was more like skinning almost severing and emptying.i do belive if jack was to kill again if he did continue the degree of mutilation would either increse or decrease.plain and simple.and depending on the up or downing of the mutilation may have made the police belive they were dealing with someone entirely different, but truely it was one and the same man just changing his killing style.maybe even changing the attack from the rippers 'blizt' attacks to a more subtle attack

Guest repliedModus Operandi, which translated from Latin means roughly "method of operating", is something that modern serial killer students and scholars alike suggest may change within a series of victims killed by one person. They may stalk particular targets or acquire victims randomly, use different weapons, use different disguises or tactics, change locations and/or victim profiles.......all of which is certainly true in various cases of known serial killers and their known kills.
Not only do we not know what the actual Ripper murder series may have been in length, we dont know anything about the man or men that committed those murders.
And in fact, the MO shown in some of the Ripper attributed kills is eerily similar and suggestive of the same techniques and methods. Polly, Annie and Kates murders.
All were approximately the same age, all were assumed to have been soliciting at the time they meet their killer, all 3 were subdued without the use of a knife and all 3 had their throats severely cut while lying on the ground,...a position he gets them into without any obvious struggles on the victims part. All 3 then had their abdomens cut into, 2 of which resulted in organ theft.
I point that out only to illustrate that we may not be dealing with a "serial" killer, but a multiple one, and he may have used the same MO each time he worked.
Best regards all.

also
you have got to realize the police at the time belived that the killer WOULDNT change his M.O this is entierly incorrect the killer could indeed change his M.O.
just think about it

but secondly
there is one suspect that in my mind has the best candidicy for being the ripper.joesph barnett.he wasnt a murder,or a lunatic.he fits the profile.he was the lover of the last victem...the only thing that i cant find about barnett is a decent motive of why he would kill all those poor woman.i dont think wanting to scare kelly out of prostitution counts as a decent motive to me. if i found a good motive for barnett being the ripper than i wouldnt be suprised that it is him

Yes, that is what I have thought for a while now. None of the other murderers that I know of had a mo like Jack. William Bury stabbed his wife, but I don't believe he mutilated her. The police in 1888 were looking for the wrong kind of guy. It made their investigation that much harder as killers like Jack can blend into society very easily and act like a normal person. This is why Jack was never caught along with the given fact that the police back then didn't have any of the tools the police we have now do. It seems that any known murderer at the time was a Jack the ripper suspect.

oops forgot
and may i also add that you arecorrect entierly relying on criminal profiling is absurd.but they do help a considerable deal..

i get your point
but then again criminal profiling has helped many police agencys and the fbi take out many cerial killers.
and to dressing better i never said flashy just better than he usually does.

I think anyone with half a brain would opt for the unknown local as being the Ripper, as none of the other suspects make sense.
Harsh but true.

I do not think that the Ripper would have dressed especially well as I think this would have been more likely to attract attention. 'Shabby Genteel' (please excuse my spelling, I kept writing Gentile) maybe but not overly above a well dressed clerk etc. In my mind however Jack is an ordinary looking Eastender, whatever that is.
