The Real Hotel Company Ltd has gone into administration after reporting poor trading in final quarter of last year.
The group's two Hull hotels, The Stop Inn in Anlaby Road and the Quality Hotel in Ferensway, continue to trade as normal despite administrators BDO Stoy Hayward closing four of the group's UK hotels.
The move has resulted in 150 redundancies across the country.
The Real Hotel Company's European hotels have not entered into administration.
Shay Bannon, business restructuring partner at BDO Stoy Hayward said: "It is regrettable that we have had to close a small number of hotels but we continue to trade a significant number of hotels with the support of stakeholders and will be actively marketing the Group for sale."
The Quality Hotel was formerly known as the Royal Station Hotel and has had several visitors during the years associated with Ripperology.
Frederick Bailey Deeming was a guest there on his honeymoon, shortly before his fraudulent activities at Reynoldson's Jewellers.
The Prince of Wales, Albert Edward was a guest on numerous occasions during his many trips to Tranby Croft.
The Duke of Clarence, Albert Victor was a guest on numerous occasions during his many trips to Tranby Croft.
Queen Victoria, visited the hotel in 1854, before taking a tour of Hull in the Royal Yacht.
Lets hope this wonderful building and business is saved
