The file headed "Whitechapel Murders" begins with the Emma Smith's affair.
But when was this file opened?
The police made no link between Tabram and Smith in August. So, do we know when the "Whitechapel Murders" file was opened, and Emma included in it?
Was it after Nichols' murder, or Chapman's?
It's interesting to note that, while the Whitechapel murders and JtR's are not completely one and the same thing, curiously, the JtR's affair (though the killer wasn't yet nicknamed JtR, but no matter, the relevant idea is that of a lone and mysterious killer), which starts in September, precedes the WM's, though this one begins in April.
Amitiés,
David
