The relevant information concerns the failure of the Berner Streeters and East End radical Jews to make any great changes because they were too militant and were incessantly attacking the Jewish religion and the Jewish leaders. They defied tradition by having annual Yon Kippur balls. So, anyone who thinks they weren't capable of offensive comments, or even of antisemitic graffiti, better think the exact opposite. Or, the book is lying.
