    Hi Joshua

this was discussed in some detail in Gavin Bromley's article on Mitre Square in Ripperologist #74, and I don't think there was a clear answer.

not read the article in sometime, so may be worth having a look.

    Hi Joshua.

Yes, press reports indicate the empty house/warehouse was next door (possibly at 52 Duke St), and that the post office abuts to Aldgate High St. So the Post Office must be a corner premises.

I tend to think this indicates the address of the Post Office was 19/20 Aldgate High St., right on the S/W corner of Duke & Aldgate?

    Aldgate post office location

Does anyone know the location of the post office that was robbed on the weekend of the double event?
The 1887 Goad map shows it on the left corner of Duke Street and Aldgate High Street. But the later OS map has it a couple of doors further up the high street, at no. 2 (Aldgate Chambers according to Goad). Obviously it was relocated sometime between 1887 and 1894, but was this before or after the murders?
Contemporary reports of the break-in say the PO was entered via an adjacent empty warehouse, and there don't seem to be any near the original location so I'm leaning towards the move taking place pre-ripper. Can anyone confirm?
