What I like to do, see, as I wander around bookshops, is look for items listed in Ross Strachan's JtR bibliography. Recently I came across John Sladek's novel Black Aura (1974) that appears on p. 88.
It's not a bad little mystery and has some interesting characters and dialogue, but the JtR connection amounts to less than 2 pages in which the protagonist daydreams that, as Sherlock Holmes, he identifies Watson as the Whitechapel fiend. This snippet hardly seems to merit the book's inclusion in Strachan's bibliography although, as I say, I rather enjoyed it nonetheless.
Has anyone else read this book?
