  • Blacks in London in L.V.P.

Hello. Since the East End was home to a number of minorities such as Jews, Irish, Germans and a smattering of others, the question I had was: what was the percentage of the number of blacks living in London at that time? Also, were they put into he East End as well or were most of them located elsewhere. The reason I asked this is because in Begg's JTR: The facts (on page 80, hardback) and in Sugden's The Complete History of JTR (pg. 93, paperback) it states that Annie Chapman had purchased her rings from "a black man." Now, does that mean a man of African descent or a dealer in "the black market?" If anyone can answer this, I'd appreciate it.
I won't make any deals. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed,de-briefed, or numbered!

    Hi JTRS,

it doesn't answer your question, but since I enjoy it too much...

One Mrs Carey, from Bristol, sent a letter to the City Police suggesting that the murderer would be a black man, wearing black trousers and...no shirt...

    Got this from SPE/Rumbelow, p 272.
    Isn't that cute ?

    Amitiés,
    David
