I found chap in a casebook from Menston Asylum.

Apart from an admission of being "Jack The Ripper" there is no evidence to back it up, but an interesting article all the same.

Joshua Brook, admitted 21st July 1892, he remained in the Asylum until his death
4th November 1893, cause of death, Syphilitic disease of the aorta.

The first document has a very literary quality: "His manner was suspicious, his gaze furtive and savage."

'Syphilis of the Aorta' sounds ghastly.

      > I wonder if anybody has ever attempted to count or even guesstimate the number of LVP mental patients who claimed to be Jack the Ripper?

      Best regards, Archaic
