  • Brain Differences Found in Psychopaths

New research with MRI's has found a structural brain difference in psychopaths. Now the question is, what causes it. Environmental toxins? Genetic mutations?

    Hi Diana,

I imagine there would still have to be an individual vulnerability to environmental toxins, if they factor at all, or we'd expect to see more siblings brought up together affected similarly.

It always intrigues me how many families you hear about where the kids are all treated exactly the same but one of them - usually male - is a right little so-and-so who simply refuses to do anything he's told. If serial killers were all devil children in one way or another it might explain why they tend to whinge about their terrible childhoods. They probably look back at all adult attempts to discipline them as chronic abuse.

    Love,

    Caz

There are also significant structural differences in schizophrenics. These differences occur when an unrelated child is raised in an environment with a schizophrenic parent (typically the mother) . The current thought ( i took abnormal psych this summer) is that the differences develop in response to a mode of interpreting ones surroundings. Respectfully Dave
