A Crime Scene Tour with "Inspector Harris" in 1889

A "New York Reporter" gets a tour from a detective he calls "Inspector Harris" in this article from page 21 of the New York Sun of December 8, 1889.

Does "Harris" sound a bit like Edmund Reid in the excerpt below?

          Thanks for the comments.

I've also found an article about a visit to Scotland Yard's Black Museum from page 18 of the Sun for November 24, 1889. I'm not sure if it's by the same reporter as the "Harris" article or not.

Below are a couple of JtR-related excerpts, which I hasten to add do not reflect my personal views.
