Photo of Liz Stride in 1872

This is CERTAINLY a new one on me - an 1872 photograph of Elizabeth Stride.
You can see the pic at:

Does anyone know anything about this pic and its provenance?
    Thanks
    Chris

LOL, don't be too gullible now. That's hardly a 29 year old Liz Stride.

    Yours truly,

      Gents,

There are "in-life" photographs of Eddowes and Nichols as well!

      Good old Internet.

      Regards,

        Hello you all!

Well, I remember, that Phil Carter presented a Swedish article about Liz and her modern-day relatives!

So, maybe someone could contact them!

m_w_r, it would be interesting to see those in-life-photos on these boards too!

        All the best

          Hello once again!

          Well, m_w_r, very interesting indeed!

          There those in-life-photos are!

However, I'd still like to see a verification, that these younghood photos really present the vics!

If this can be done, then all we need is a verified photo of MJK from the canonical five!

          All the best
          Jukka

Very interesting if it's genuine, but it looks like a modern day faked picture to me.

I am doubting that these are real... however, one could presumably try to contact the blog owner to ask where they came from. I checked the website but did not see any info on who owns the blog (also no contact info)... but I may be missing something.

                Hello Jukka,

I believe it was Lina that started that thread. http://forum.casebook.org/showthread.php?t=3964

I am in grave doubt as to these photos are real. One blow up showed me more than enough that I needed to see. See what you all think.

                Looks like a modern hoax.

                best wishes

                  Hi Rob
I couldn't see any contact details either - frustrating!

                    Hi Jukka,

I agree, but there's probably no chance of that.

There's an old joke about someone who goes to Egypt and a street vendor approaches him offering for sale "the skull of the famous Cleopatra". The visitor declines the sale, but the vendor is a persistent fellow, and he holds up a slightly smaller skull and offers "the skull of the famous Cleopatra when she was a little girl".

I suspect that whoever owns the blog in question is probably quite happy with his or her photographs of the faces of the Ripper victims when they were little girls.

                    Regards,

                    Mark

Why bother? We know more about the victims than any of their living descendants.

These pictures are hilarious, the Catherine Eddowes one must be some poor woman from about two decades before the date given

So now we know. Stride looked like Glenda Jackson and JTR may have been a Black and White Minstrel.

                              Hello Robert,

Glenda Jackson... yup... that struck me too. Infact, the "new" pics of Stride and Eddowes on that website both look like it could be the same woman posing for both of the photo's.

                              best wishes

                              Phil
