    I guess then the question would become was disicpline tightened in the intervening thirty-seven years. On another note. IN researching a paper on Isandhlwana and Rorke's Drift I discovered that as of 1879, the size of 800-1000 men was more appropriate for a full strength battalion a Regiment would have been twice that size. The other objection to it beng a soldier would be the easy availability of bayonets on the open market. But your point is quite cogent Wickerman and well-taken.
