    Update Sunday

    Here is today's update.

About 5 different doctors examined Linda today. They are starting her on temporary dialysis to restore kidney function.

I asked if a Neurologist has evaluated her, and was told only to a limited extent since she has remained unconscious. But the good news is that CAT-Scans have not shown any damaged areas in the brain.

I asked Linda's family to keep speaking to her despite her being unconscious, as I've had experiences with people in comas who responded to me speaking to them, and they said they are.

Her family and I are deeply touched that so many people are praying for Linda and wishing her well, in particular the people who contacted me by PM saying they are agnostic or atheist but felt moved to pray for Linda anyway. We think that's beautiful.

Your kindness gives us new courage and hope. Her husband said he's going to tell her about it.

    Thanks so much,
    Bunny

Thanks for keeping us up to date Bunny. The CT scan results are encouraging. It is wonderful to hear of so many people praying for Linda, thinking about her, and sending out positive energy to her and her family. She is much loved and cared for.

Please post any news as you get it. And thank you. We're worried, but doing everything we can. As, I expect, everyone is.

          Hi Dan.

I promise I will post any news right away.

Linda's husband was told that we're basically in a "wait and see" pattern now. The best thing that could happen is for Linda to open her eyes, or take a breath on her own, or give some other kind of sign.

Poor Linda has really had a rough six months, and I'm praying she has the strength to keep fighting.

          Take care,
          Bunny

Understood, and thanks again. I'm doing all I can within my limitations. Faith is more than additive, and the more strength we can send her, the better her chances. From each according to their beliefs, to she who is in need. Boost the signal, however you feel is right.

Without getting all metaphysical, I'm broadcasting everything I've got towards Linda. But I've been at it for days. I'm getting tired. Reinforcements would be welcome. We need to link up, focus, keep pouring it on.

Pray, light candles, burn incense, meditate, send good vibes, whatever - according to what you believe. Give of yourselves whatever you can spare.

"Linda... You are loved... Heal, recover, come back to us, you are loved..." I've had this 3-part harmony going through my mind over and over again for days now. Endlessly repeating, broadcasting, focused on her. I could write it up as music, but I can't express it in words any better than that. If I were to write it up as a lyric set it'd be a round in three voices:

              "Linda... Linda... Linda... Linda..."
"Heal, Recover, Come Back To Us, You are loved..."
"You are loved, you are loved, you are loved, you are loved..."

Damn. I said I wasn't going to get all meta. Oh well, needs must when one's need requires. Look, you all have your ways, I have mine. I'm no expert or guru or anything. I'm just trying to lend my strength to a friend. Condemn me or berate me if you must. I will not stop. I will not rest. I will do whatever I can. Please do whatever you can. And thank you, for whatever you are able to contribute.

                Update Monday

I heard from Linda's husband this morning.

Linda had her first round of dialysis over night, and the nurse said she tolerated it well.

However, she is still spiking high fevers. These began 2 weeks ago after her last surgery, but they had gotten them under control after 8 days in the ICU. I don't know what is causing the fevers at this point; I'll ask.

Thanks everyone for your continuing concern, positivity, and prayers.

I don't know about the rest of you, but throughout Linda's long illness I've been asking many non-Casebook friends (including atheists and agnostics) to pray for Linda and send her positive healing energy, whatever feels right to them. They have responded quite generously, for which I'm sincerely grateful.

It's difficult for me to be 2,000 miles away from my dear friend when she's so ill. Now I understand how Linda felt when I was hospitalized two years ago.

We both believe Love can be felt across Time and Space, and I genuinely believe Linda can feel all our love now.

                With sincerest thanks,
                Bunny

                      Hi Errata.

No, I'm afraid her heart isn't beating on its own.

Here's what I think happened, based upon my knowledge of the situation. Please note, this is my personal interpretation. Linda was on IV's for many weeks because she couldn't eat, and it caused edema (water retention and swelling.) She complained about this to me and to the drs but they didn't want to give her a diuretic for some reason. After surgery we thought she'd be in the ICU overnight, but due to high fevers, wounds drainage, and grogginess, she was in there 8 days, getting out last Monday.

She was utterly exhausted and it was a big deal that on Friday she was helped out of bed and sat up on her own for 2 hours. That was terrific news as she's been in bed since Oct 15, so we were excited and she was happy. Everything looked good; the plan was to get her eating again, have her gain strength, and then go home.

She had some water buildup on the lungs from the edema and they gave her a diuretic plus some other meds and sent in a Pulmonary specialist and Physical Therapists to work with her. We expected progress to be slow but steady and involve sitting up, eating, walking, etc. That was the report I had from her husband Friday night, and I expected to talk to Linda in the next day or two.

Late Friday night/Sat morning my time, 3:15 PST, I got a call from Tom saying her heart had stopped. They rushed her back into the ICU and hooked her up to various machines to keep her heart beating and lungs pumping. She has not been responsive, meaning she's been unconscious since then.

Again, the neurological situation isn't clear, but the CT Scans were encouraging as they didn't show brain damage. In my opinion the underlying neurological situation is what is key.

The plan now is to keep her on dialysis and the heart-lung machine and continue to monitor her. I've asked her family to talk to her, play music, etc and they are doing so.

That's about all I know at this point. I haven't heard an actual official diagnosis of her state yet. The best we can do on our end is keep projecting our love, prayers, and support to her and to her family.

If anyone wants me to forward a message to her husband, please pm me and I promise to do so. Maybe he could read it to her for you. For his sake and hers, please keep the messages very short; a sentence or two.

                      Thank you,
                      Bunny

                            Hi Norma.

You're very welcome. I'm glad to be able to do this for Linda, just as she did it for me when I was hospitalized.

I was just outside brushing my horse and thinking about Linda, when I looked up and saw this beautiful rainbow over the trees!

                            Linda would love it.

                            Take care,

I love the way that the rainbow is a bridge or a barrier that shuts those clouds
above it, and the sky is clear close to you..
