As I said earlier, I do think that Earhart and Noonan came down either on, or very close to, Gardner Island and possibly survived for a short time. Seems to me that only the discovery of the Electra, or large remains of it that can be identifiable as belonging to Earhart's plane (which was a specially-modified version of the standard model), will prove that they came down on or near Gardner. So far such finds have proved elusive. I think I recall reading that off the west coast of Gardner there is a submarine cliff; if the Electra went over this cliff, chances are it's gone for ever. Don't suppose that will prevent Ric Gillespie from carrying on!

If Gillespie could get someone like Dr. Robert Ballard to assist with a deep sea submergible camera possibly it might sight wreckage beneath such a cliff, but Ballard would have to be really interested in the matter to do so.

It looks like Gillespie and his team are now going to use bone sniffing dogs to see if they can find human remains on the island.

In the news today: http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/07/0...urvived-crash/

Someone believes that he's found a picture of Earhart and Noonan in Japanese captivity in the Marshall Islands.

I'm currently watching the documentary on History Channel which is making a very plausible story for the idea that they landed on a small island called Milli, and then were captured by the Japanese from the Marshall Islands.
I love their research and attention to making sure photo experts and others look at any physical evidence, their going to the sites mentioned by witnesses and seeing for themselves what the terrain is like.

So far, I am very convinced this may be the true solution to the disappearance of Earhart and Noonan. The show is called "Amelia Earhart, the Lost Evidence".

By now, you have probably heard that the theories about the photo have been debunked, and in embarrassing fashion, I might add. The photo wasn't and isn't some top-secret item, but a mere travelogue photo from a publicly available book in Japan published in 1935, two years BEFORE Earhart disappeared. The photo was found by someone who only needed half hour of online search only 2 days after the documentary aired. Truly embarrassing and laughable.

Yep, very embarrassing, especially for History Channel!

Gillespie did not seem to be involved in that program, so maybe he'll have a chance to "finding Amelia" yet... Maybe?

Maybe he'll find the answer yet - Maybe! But maybe he'll find the wreckage of that missing Malaysian airliner, or the "Warahtah" of the "USS Cyclops". I admit things do turn up. In recent years the wrecks of the HMS Errabus and HMS Terror from the doomed Franklin Expedition turned up, and they found the Steamship Portland, and the USS Conastoga. This past week the corpses of two people (a married Swiss couple who vanished in 1942) were found and identified (by DNA) in a Swiss Alpine glacier. So answers do crop up - but not all the time.
