  • What It Is Like in Washington, D.C. Right Now

As a long time D.C. resident, you kind of get used to there always being something going on in this city but it is absolutely crazy right now. Thursday Union Station (the train station) was packed with people coming into the city by train. Everybody with suitcases and police and bomb sniffing dogs everywhere. Parts of the station were blocked off for events making it even more chaotic. Saturday (Inauguration Day) streets were blocked off with the National Guard patrolling and armored vehicles all over. Today (Saturday) protesters (peaceful ones not the crazies) were all over. Tons of women wearing pink hats. Metro stations overwhelmed with people. And on the streets men in tuxedos and women in long gowns heading toward parties. It is a wild scene. Democracy in action. You've got to love it.

    Not surprised.

There are two ways to be fooled, one is to believe what isn't true, the other is to refuse to believe that which is true.

The Women's March on Saturday was entirely peaceful, and very large. I loved seeing all generations represented in the crowd, men as well.
There were similar demonstrations in other American cities, including Denver.
And I have also heard that there were several protests around the world.
