Poor ol Polly Nichols , Jolly bonnet upon your head ,
All ya needed was just four pence , and a place to rest your head ,
So how you ended up that night , down in ol Bucks Row ,
Beneath the shadow of the Ripper , it's for only you to know .

    RIP Polly ..

Let us remember Annie Chapman, who died early this morning in 1888. May she rest in peace.

Poor Annie. A rotten life and a worse death.

Such a tragic character, as much a victim of demon alcohol as she was of the Ripper. The same could be said of most of the victims but she seems to have been the worst alcoholic, to the point where it's said she probably didn't have long to live even if she'd never crossed the Ripper's path. Perhaps it's a small blessing then, to make up for all the hurt, that she is the only Ripper victim for whom we have a photograph of her alive.

            Rest in peace Annie.

Along came Annie Chapman , Dark Annie she was known ,
From the Ten Bells pub to Hanbury street she wandered all alone ,
Was early in the morning , the clock in Brick lane chimed ,
Who left you in the yard that morn , at the back of twenty nine .

              R.I.P Annie
