Default Which Letter Is It From?

I remember at the beginning of the movie From Hell there is a quote from one of the Jack the Ripper letters: "One day they will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th century." This was probably not written by the real Ripper but what alledged Ripper letter is it from? The quote is fascinating, in a sick kind of way.
