    Rather a bizarre way to go!
    I wonder if the woman was a bit of a hoarder, indulging her compulsion to acquire things by stealing charity donations in the dead of night. Then again, maybe she was looking for a bargain, depending upon the type of neighborhood the box was in. Her family didn't seem to know she did this.
