  • Little help with Census

Hope someone can help looking at a Census and some headings I've not seen before across the page are

    Address
    X
    Surname
    Forenames
    Rel
    X
    C
    Sex
    Age
    Occupation

Now most are self-evident, but what are the "X" columns and

Does the "C" whch appears to be "m" "u" or "w" translate to marital status.

    Thanks in advance.

There are two ways to be fooled, one is to believe what isn't true, the other is to refuse to believe that which is true.

Different headings were included in different years, GUT. What year and country was it? Some columns were for administration purposes.
You are right on the last bit-'m', 'u', and 'w' refer to marital status.

      Thanks Debra

So I've now got a bloke who was always thought to have never married showing as married.

The Columns headed "X" appear to be empty on the pages I've seen. So maybe nothing.
