  • P.c. 60.c.

I am curious to know if anyone has verified the existence of the
P.C. 60.C mentioned in the Ripper letter of 22 July 1889. (pg 274
of the "Letters from Hell" by Evans and Skinner)
    Many thanks.

I would hazard that this task, would be nearly impossible, without knowing his warrant number and or name. I believe that collar numbers were reused as well which doesn't help. Interesting that he hasn't already been researched. Which kind of backs up my theory that it would be like looking for a needle in a hay stack. An avenue might be to see if the 1887 medal rolls for C Division list collar numbers?

Just tried the Old Bailey website to see if I could get any hits on 60 C (have had results before), but sadly on this occasion no 60 C ever gave evidence at the Old Bailey So I fear we'll never know who this chap was. By that means anyway.
