    Best regards

    Hello Chris,

Thank you. .and you are most welcome.

The simple fact is that every single one of the families and loved ones of the 96 victims deserve that we never, ever, get ourselves into the position of taking their efforts for granted.
We must never again PRETEND that anybody in a position of trust and or power cannot possibly be whiter than the fallen snow.

There are some around here that insist that people aren't corrupt, never thought of themselves only and could never, ever, disgrace their office. Throughout time, it has happened, often.

I heard the words "conspiracy merchants" amobgst many far worse thrown at the supporters and family members in the aftermath of Hillsborough. And it was the police themsrlves who did the name calling.

If anybody ever tries to throw that label at anyone relating to history... I will forever quote Hillsborough. .recent history at them.

"That was then and this is now" has been used.
Funny. The more you go back in time, the more examples of corruption you will find from those in a position of trust and power.

People need this rammed down their throats so they understand. The police have been, and in some cases still rwgard themselves, as a law unto themselves. It didnt suddenly start with Hillsborough. It has been going on throughout time.. and the cover ups and great in number.
The more you go back in time..the more it happened and the more they got away with it.

The families of the 96 stood up and beat the system..beat the power..beat the name calling, beat the false accusations, beat the lies..beat the inherent tendency that they furst should not question authority, could not question authority, and should never dare to question the integrity of authority.

They are the prime lesson for us all.
It has been done with immense dignity and strength of resolve.

It is sad to say that there are some people who are so blinkered in their attitude to the police that whatever they have done..or still do...gets ignored.

It isnt revolutionary to insist on simple..honest truth. The police must show us..the general public. .. that they are worthy of our trust in them again.

Time to clean up the past in full.

An absolutely brilliant post Phil - and thank you for starting this important thread.

Moving away from the 'officials' slightly, let's also recall the truly shocking and disgusting role of The Sun newspaper in spreading vile lies about the fans at Hillsborough.

From the same farm, the News of The World was more or less forced into extinction by the hacking scandal. Quite rightly too - but let's not forget many of the victims of the hacking scandal were people of influence.

The families of the Hillsborough dead and injured, and those who survived, were afforded no satisfaction in seeing that rag of a 'newspaper' put to bed. Sure, its circulation suffered - and it is difficult to buy The Sun in Liverpool - but I wonder if that wicked and filthy reporting actually played a role in delaying Justice for the 96?

        Hello Julie,

Thank you for your kind comments. ☺

The Sun and the NotW newspapers are famous for writing the most awful things...but it must here be remembered that the comments were hand fed to them..by...yup..you guessed it..Ye Olde Police force. It was they that spread the sordid lies to those newspapers..something for which the then editors of said newspapers have since apologised profusely for. They too were led a merry dance.

The whole thing was a set up from start you finish..in able to pin the blame on the wonky donky..all engineered and manufactured by the upper echelons of our tried and trusted law enforcement officers in South Yorkshire. They got political backing too. The whole thing stinks to high heaven.

Families of the victims say they welcome the move and pledge to continue to scrutinise the process and any decisions.

            And here. ..

The CPS will decide whether criminal charges should be brought against 23 suspects named in files handed over by the IPCC and Operation Resolve, regarding investigations into the Hillsborough Disaster of 1989.

All those complicit in the cover-up should be punished.

Manslaughter seems an awfully harsh charge, however.

That's what happens when one lies and blames the victims rather than puts ones hands up and says sorry I was to blame.

To me fully justified; however the degree of proof needed to convict is reasonably high.

The charges of perverting the course of justice being laid out will hammer a few. Including the lawyer for the police who helped change witness statements and police statements.
After 28 years these people deserve no sympathy.
Imagine how these poor families have suffered? 28 years.
Sorry. .I hope these people get the full force of each prison sentence. They deserve nothing for their lies.
That very senior policemen were more intent in covering their own backsides tells us all.
There are honest policemen..and then there are bent policemen.
This lot were as bent as a nine bob note.
"Without fear nor favour"... my a**e.
