MRB talks sense. The meat was already butchered and probably in linen sacks. The idea that Lech was covered in blood, even presuming he did move meat is ludicrous. Also as a cabman who would look after the horses as part of his job, he may not have handled the removals , just drove the cart.

The suppositions that have been built around this hard working family man just trying to get on with his life and avoid public notice have been exaggarated and built on until he has become a super devious serial killer based on no evidence what so ever.

To go back to basics; A man is on his way to work . he sees a woman lying in the street, even though he may be late for work, his human insinct is to go and check whether she is OK. He is not sure if she is alive nor dead, so calls another man over to look at her. He pulls her skirt down as an instinctive action to protect her modesty. A concept that has probably disappeared from todays culture.
When the police get involved, things get complicated, he might have to give evidence, he might loses wages, he might get bothered by work or neighbours, when he just wants to get on with life. Giving his stepfathers name might just prevent too much nosiness and give him some anonomity.
Of course, that is a ridiculous explaination of a man's motives, the man must have been a fiendish serial killer, because he found a body on his way to work, no other explanation can be considered.
