More RipperCon swag to give away!

This should be an easy one, so be fast with your answers!

The picture postcard of London at lower right is one of my favorite vintage cards, posted from an area hotel in Edwardian times to an address in Boulogne, address side written in French to Maman c/o a pharmacist in the French city.

The scene is labeled "Regent Street" but the location is known by a more usual name. Give me that name and the name of the well known statue.

I will be keeping that card but you could win the card showing Selfridge's at the time of the coronation of King George VI in 1937 and the one of the Houses of Parliament from the Thames, a card with a slight tear but not serious, and one other London postcard. Good luck.

Nah! Not possible!

It is Piccadilly Circus with the memorial usually said to be of Eros being the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain. Info here --

Thanks Chris.

My knowledge of London geography certainly isnt my strongest trivia area.

To be truthful, the geography of London isn't my strongpoint either. Being a child of two countries, I possibly know Manhattan, NYC, better than I know London.

TOM DIVENTI—“Riffing on Baltimore”—RipperCon 2018 Saturday night entertainer

Former Baltimore Sun columnist Rafael Alvarez calls Tom DiVenti a “Baltimore hidden treasure.” A man with a rapier-like wit, DiVenti is viewed by RipperCon’s Christopher T. George, who has known him for 40 years, as this city’s Lenny Bruce—so just be sure Baltimore’s Bad Boy doesn’t skewer you during RipperCon.

DiVenti made his reputation in the 1970’s as a poet and punk rocker performing with the bands Da Moronics and T.T. Tucker. He is the subject (or victim!) of The Tinklers’ song, “Tough Guys Are Probably Sad Inside.” He has also been pigeon-holed by Lungfish in their song, “Devilhead.” In 1977, DiVenti founded the city’s first underground small poetry press, Apathy Press, on Lovegrove Alley. The Apathy Project released its first publications on an unsuspecting world in 1980.

At this moment DiVenti’s book, The Baltimore Kid, is schlepping door-to-door in search of a publisher. Summer 2018 will see release of “Da Moronics Live @ CBGB’s NYC 1978” celebrating Da Moronics’ 40th-year anniversary playing punk music—not quite the 130 years since the Ripper murders but getting there! Meanwhile, T.T. Tucker recently released their new CD, “Redneck/Whitetrash/Blues,” comprising original songs by the man himself.

DiVenti writes a weekly column on all things Baltimore and beyond for the digital magazine “Splice Today.” In a recent post he reflected, “Life’s Too Short to Live So Long. I’ve always felt at home in cemeteries” http://www.splicetoday.com/writing/l...o-live-so-long.

Don’t miss out on RipperCon in Baltimore, April 7-8 -- the only North American Jack the Ripper - True Crime Conference
in the 130th Anniversary Year of the Whitechapel Murders!

Only fifty places available! See full information at www.RipperCon.com
