The old explanation was that "Sor" and "Mishter" were stage "Irishisms" employed by the journalist who wrote the items.

On Feigenbaum

See this thread dated 02-10-2013, 09:44 PM :

http://forum.casebook.org/showthread...m#post2 53211

where Lynn Cates wrote: "Trevor dumped Feigenbaum some time ago."

That was what I recalled.

That works with "Sor", but I'm not sure about "Mishter".

Default Nein...

Hey y'all,

You're assuming the murderer/murderers wrote letters. Many dispute that. I also don't recall any of the supposed sighters of said ripper mentioning an accent. Mrs. Long said "foreign looking" I believe but didn't say the "will you" sounded German. No 'vill ye' for example...

It's also news to me that Trevor has abandoned Feigenbaum, it wasn't long ago I dissed Feig... and Trevor came out of the woodwork to admonish...

I'm certainly not assuming "Jack" wrote anything - in my view he was probably illiterate, at least in English. I believe that the police at the time were right, and the author was probably a journalist.

The discussion was about the interpretation of a phrase within some of the communications, that is all.

Since Trevor's latest book is not about Feigenbaum, so far as I know - it would not surpise me to learn that he has shifted his ground. But as you see, I was citing what I had read here on Casebook, not my own certain view.

Hello Chris. Welcome to the boards.

Cheers.

Default reassessment

Hello Colin.

"If Trevor's moved on from Feigenbaum it would be interesting to know why."

Reassessment of the evidence is trending away from his former views--or so I understand.

Cheers.

Hello Lynn!

Indeed a Swiss chap would do as well. Maybe I should have asked "Was The Ripper German Speaking"
