You're both right. The original meaning of the word is "surprised" but in more modern usage it has come to mean "unfazed; unperturbed." I was using it in the latter sense.

Yes, I am a bit embarrassed as I'm usually on the more old school side of things. For example, I absolutely loathe the use of "impact" as a verb.
