  • Miller's Court as a site of morbid interest....

If I have the layout right, No 13 was just inside an entrance alley and the windows where easy for gawpers and the morbidly curious to get to.

In a case like the Wallace murder the residents of the murder site were regularly annoyed by people ringing the bell, shouting "Choppy, choppy..." etc through the letterbox.

I'm a bit surprised not to have seen reports of siteseers/gawpers( given the era, I don't think photos are likely - not sure when "portable" cameras came into being...). I think I read that no 13 was occupied till 1914 and then boarded up until it was visited by an author around the time of it's demolition in 1928 ( I think that demolition is shown in a photo on this site).

Apologies if I have made obvious errors about the case, I'm a true crime fan, but not really an avid follower of the Whitechapel murders.
