clear signs

Hello Trevor. Thanks.

At any rate, BOTH Polly and Annie had swollen or lacerated tongues, as well as facial bruising. Those were considered clear signs of being strangled.

Cheers.

evidence of strangulation

Hello John, Thanks.

You mean my "reasoning"? No, differences mean little. It is only AFTER two killings as similar as Polly and Annie (evidence of strangulation, double throat cuts, skillful...

tough

Hello John. Thanks.

I think Kate's killer had selected her some time before AND for a specific reason.

And he may very well have been the tough character that Tom Wescott hypothesises. Put another...

intelligent

Hello Louisa. Remarkably intelligent theorising.

It is my sincere hope that some of that can be applied to the Ripper "case." If so, the rot may come to an abrupt halt.

Cheers.

All the world's a stage.

Hello Harry. Thanks.

Who is suggesting psychopathy? I referred ONLY to a fit of pique. The rest--to use your word--was staging.

Cheers.

Video meliora proboque, deteriora sequor.

Hello Harry. Thanks.

I see. We must look for a serious deterioration in skills?

Cheers.

parental intervention

Hello Abby. Thanks.

Actually, I believe that a human being, given the right circumstances, is capable of ANYTHING.

But it seems a bit improbable to me that the family would cover for a cold blooded...

Hello CD. Thanks.

These days I have little time for such nonsense. Currently I am about to become engaged in writing up lectures for my new occupation--teaching history. And US History is not...

Hello Christer.

"Anybody with a sound argument against that is welcome to disagree."

Umm, a sound argument is a valid argument with ALL true premises. But "validity"
is defined ONLY on deductive...

blunting an argument

Hello (again) John. A blunt knife MIGHT suggest a different killer. Why not use your original sharp knife?

Cheers.

contention

Hello John. Thanks.

Indeed. My contention is that:

1. IF Dr. Phillips (and whomever agreed with him immediately after Kate's death) were mistaken about "skillful mutilations" (cuts), then my theory...

Hello Abby. Thanks. The same to you I'm sure.

As I (and others) have suggested, the club lads were quite nervous from the police comportment the night of the investigation. Hence, fearing problems,...

Safety in numbers?

Hello Abby.

"and consensus, not only by police at the time but modern experts."

There was a consensus regarding the last US election. How did THAT work out?

Jane

Hello Harry.

"Why should each murder be as identical as the last?"

Well, just look at Nichols and Chapman. In fact, they were SO similar that Dr. Phillips was sent to Birtley Fell to see if the...

May the Schwartz be with you

Hello Louisa. If one could extrapolate from your post #1284 to the Schwartz testimony about BSM (mutatis mutandis, of course), one might see what my theory has been for all these years.

Hello Rainbow. On the other hand, the medicos were convinced that Kate was by another hand.

Hence JI still makes a perfectly good suspect.

victimology

Hello (again) CD. Nice argument.

No, it would not eliminate them as "Ripper victims." But it might render moot the talk about victimology and all the women of the same walk.

Faith without works is dead.

Hello CD. Thanks.

But IF one makes a leap of faith (as per Kierkegaard), there should be some results.

After 125+ years, where are they?

How on earth do we know that?
