  • Migrant database (1878 - 1960) goes online!

Must be relevant to Jack. Been reading through the A-Z of Jack the Ripper, and came to the conclusion that, based on the witness statements and the demographic make-up of the area, that the killer probably was Jewish, and judging by the fact that the Ripper's MO seems to point to him being taken places by the victims, rather than him taking them to predetermined kill spots, which suggests that he was generally disorganised and probably did not know the area well, again considering the small area of the killings.

    Hi DP
Many thanks for the "heads up" on this
A welcome addition but one caveat - many of the folks we would be interested in (e.g. those from Eastern Europe) will not be included. The scope of the database is as follows:

"This database is an index to the Board of Trade’s passenger lists of ships arriving in the United Kingdom from foreign ports outside of Europe and the Mediterranean from 1878-1888 and 1890-1960. Information listed on the passenger lists may include: name of passenger, their birth date or age, port of departure, port of arrival, date of arrival, and vessel name."
